Claude Sonnet - Compliance Narrative
Viktor A. Kozlov appears on two OFAC SDN designation records and is linked to sanctioned entities in the energy sector, presenting a critical compliance risk for regulated firms. Financial crime signals sourced from Reuters and the Financial Times corroborate laundering allegations tied to offshore shell structures in Cyprus and the BVI. Engagement without enhanced due diligence and senior management approval would represent a material breach under MLR 2017.

Know before
you sign.

Every regulated firm in the UK has AML obligations under MLR 2017. Most don't have an enterprise compliance budget. This tool was built for them.

Accountants & tax advisers
HMRC supervised sector

Subject to MLR 2017. Required to screen clients before onboarding and on an ongoing basis. A fast, affordable alternative to enterprise subscriptions that sole practitioners and small firms cannot justify for occasional checks.

Typical use Pre-onboarding screen on a new business client before the engagement letter is signed.
Legal & conveyancing practices
Solicitors & licensed conveyancers

Heightened AML exposure in property transactions, corporate work, and trust administration. The SAR tier generates an FCA-aligned draft narrative that your MLRO can review and submit directly to the NCA.

Typical use Enhanced due diligence on a buyer or seller where source of funds is unclear.
Financial services & wealth management
FCA-regulated firms

Ongoing CDD obligations under MLR 2017. Supplements your primary screening database for ad hoc checks, periodic reviews, or cases where a second signal source is needed before escalating to enhanced due diligence.

Typical use Periodic refresh screen on an existing client flagged by transaction monitoring.
Estate agents & property professionals
MLR 2017 - residential & commercial

Required under MLR 2017 to conduct CDD on buyers and sellers in residential and commercial transactions. Practical for firms without a dedicated compliance function - no contract, no minimum commitment, pay per check.

Typical use Screening a cash buyer before accepting an offer.

What to do
with your result.

Each scan returns a risk band scored by source authority, term severity, and freshness. Here is what each band means - and the protocol it requires.

LOW RISK

No significant adverse signals found in publicly indexed sources at time of scan. A meaningful data point - proceed with standard CDD.

  • Proceed with standard CDD under your firm's policy.
  • Save the scan reference number to your client file as evidence of screening performed.
  • Apply your own judgement to any factors not captured by open-source search.
LOW reflects public information only. It is not a clearance.
MEDIUM RISK

One or more signal profiles returned results warranting closer review. Do not proceed on standard CDD alone.

  • Open the By Profile tab and follow each source link. Confirm whether hits are relevant to your subject.
  • Assess whether enhanced due diligence is required under your firm's risk policy.
  • Document your conclusions and your rationale for proceeding or escalating.
MEDIUM does not mean blocked - it means verify before proceeding.
HIGH RISK

At least one profile scored HIGH with two or more corroborating hits from authoritative sources. Enhanced due diligence is required.

  • Sanctions, PEP status, or financial crime signals require senior management sign-off under MLR 2017.
  • If signals are credible and linked to the subject, consider whether a SAR is required before proceeding.
  • Do not proceed without documented escalation and a signed-off EDD record.
Use the AML + SAR tier to auto-generate a draft SAR narrative for MLRO review.
Results reflect publicly indexed sources only. Human review is mandatory before any compliance decision or NCA SAR filing. Retain scan reference numbers in your client file as evidence of screening performed.
